Hello! Hope you all had a lovely Australia Day. We didnt do much, laid back lunch with some peeps and then some drinks in the sun... and rain. The weather was a nightmare! haha.

I have not stopped wearing my hair in a bun with ridiculous amounts of hair spray all week.

Damn humidity! :((((((

I tried out my new 'Light as Air' China Glaze.

(Excuse my awful cuticles. Ergh)

And Rimmel 'Pop' with China Glaze 'Twinkle Lights'

Finally got myself a diary today (for the grand total of $7.66!) I wasn't going to get one this year but I think it will help me be more organised. We'll see... I hope it doesnt end up in the bottom of my bag and never seeing the light of day *ahem*.

Off to a farewell tonight, the theme is 'jungle' but I'm so uninspired. I think I'll wear something leopard print (because we all know that's definitely not lacking in my wardrobe hahaha) and that'll be my little contribution.

On Friday I came home to a package, my mother texted me and said it 'Feels like bandages'

....

Anyway, turned out it was my order from The Glossery

Yay. 2 x China Glaze nail polishes, 'Twinkle Lights' and 'Light As Air'.

I put Twinkle Lights on straight away, and layered it over my fluro Miss Shop green/yellow.

I will be trying Light As Air next ^_^

On Saturday night my Dad was playing his first full length gig after his back surgery almost 2 years ago, so Jez and I went along to watch, along with some of Mum and some of their friends.

I'm so glad to see him back up there doing something he loves.

I wore Cotton On shirt (customised) / Sportsgirl skirt / Tony Bianco Wedges / SG clutch

As a rather crazy thing (for Dad anyway) there was an 18th at the venue they were playing at and Gina Jeffries (country music singer... not sure if anyones heard of her but anywho) was the birthday girls God Mother. She got up to sing a song and the band had to play along with her. Dad was pretty stoked I think hahaha.

On Sunday J and I went down to the local monthly markets. They're getting bigger and better every month! My tiny little town gets clogged up with cars and people, they even had someone there to direct traffic! If any of you live on the coast or are ever visiting when they're on, I highly recommend them! We even saw Matt Moran there with this family, sampling all the food! Haha. That was weird :S I kept telling J to go up to him and chat about cheffy things. Ha.

There's about 70 stalls and it weaves it's way from the shops on the main road, around the edge of the lake, and under the trees. It was a great way to spend Sunday morning.

Theres vintage clothes, jewellery, candles, furniture, live music, a 'wellbeing circle', meditation, palm reading, jumping castle, face painting, pastries, cupcakes, jams etc etc. I shall have to take better photos next time.

One more day of work then 4 days off yay yay yay

Scored this dress for $25 today. It's only of those shapeless, floaty numbers. I've been craving a dress I can just throw on lately, it's something that has been missing from my wardrobe. This one will fill the hole nicely. I dont usually suit shapeless clothing but this I think I can just get away with. (Hopefully!)

Hello! Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes :)))))))

I had a lovely birthday, I scored a couple of Sportsgirl vouchers (mwahahahahahahha) I've already bought a singlet and am tossing up what to get next. Eeek.

I also got a new camera yayayayayayay. Say hello to relatively decent outfit photos again! (Even though I JUST discovered that I can take them in my drive way by balancing my iPhone on one of our otto bins... ((as seen in the last couple of posts)) but anyway). I am a happy camper!

PRE-BIRTHDAY DINNER

J took me out for dinner on Saturday night. We went to a Tapas restaurant and the food was deeeeeelish!

Close up of the clutch. I found it in an op shop years ago and used it often, but the cover came off. I was cleaning my room today and found it, grabbed my trusty hot glue gun and fixed it up :)

Pork with beans and a tomato sauce. (it tasted too much like Minestrone for me! Ergh)

We also had a deep fried crumbed cheesy croquettes and fried haloumi. Nom. I love haloumi so much. Haha.

We were so damn full we couldnt fit in dessert. Wahhh. I was eyeing off the churros with caramel, choc and berry dipping sauces. Mmm.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I'm really devastated I didnt take a leave day for tomorrow (my birthday). I have never worked on my birthday before! Hahaha. Is that weird?

I think everyone should get a day off for their bday. Ahhh, in an ideal world.

SPORTSGIRL YOU HURT MY WALLET

Sportsgirl just got a drop of (what I think is) their first lot of Autumn/Winter stock.

I fell in love with almost all of it. I love just about everything else in the store too.

Its a constant struggle because there is a store between my work and the station, so every day I have to fight urges to go in and buy the whole store. I'm not kidding when I say I buy at least one thing from there every week. Its crazy!

Yesterday J got some wonderful news about his job so we went out to the restaurant his boss owns (along with the cafe J works at) for dinner.

I got all creative and made my SG maxi into a skirt.

and wore the necklace I got from Sportsgirl yesterday for $19.95. I could not believe how cheap it was.

...Sportsgirl sandals. It is at this time that I am realising I was almost decked out in head-to-toe SG. Ahem.

Entree: Prosciutto roasted figs with goats cheese and candied walnuts. I thought figs with all this savoury shiz going on would be weird but I was nicely surprised. DELICIOUS.

My main: Lamb, bean and pumpkin salad. (It had a fancy name that I cant remember... hahaha)

This was also nommity nom nom.

And dessert: Cheesecake and poached apricots.

Yum! Its my birthday on Monday and we're heading out to dinner tomorrow night. We're going to a Spanish/tapas restaurant that we havent tried before so I'm a little bit excited.

My bestie since Kindy is moving to Sydney in the next week. I dont think I'll know what to do without her living just 5 mins up the road. It'll be so weird. On a good note, she'll be living 10 mins walk from Bondi Junction so I can imagine I'll be heading down to do a few shopping adventures with her. So envious. I hope to be finding my own Sydney residence this year but we will have to wait and see!

I'm so excited to kick back with a glass of wine tonight. Mmm. Yay for Friday.

Hope everyone had a cracking NYE! Ours was so laid back it wasnt funny.

Also thank you for the love on my last post, I wish every single one of my readers a wonderful 2012. I hope everyones dreams come true!

We had din dins by the water...

Nommy Vietnamese chicken salad and our entree of Dim Sims and Satay sticks.

We meant to stay out to watch the fireworks... but went home and fell asleep. Ha.

Everyone we knew was away or was doing nothing so it was probably the most uneventful NYE ever. Hopefully we'll be in New York next NYE and will make up for it!

My CR dress arrived last Thursday and fits amazingly. I am so in love with it.

This is what I'm thinking of wearing with the dress to J's sister's wedding in March.

(yes I am a fan of planning ahead just a bit...... :| haha)

I would really love to wear these...

...but they are old Witchery stock. Wahhh.

The wedding is on a property so I'm thinking flats might be a better option anyway!

If anyone has any ideas/tips about accessories, and/or grassy weddings (haha) please let me know.

I thought I would do a '2011' post as I didnt do a 2010 one last year, and it's a really nice idea to look back at things you've done over the last 12 months.

I did 2 big things this year.

Got a job in my area of study/interest. FINALLY. I finished TAFE in June 2009 and I was honestly starting to freak out a little bit that I was never going to find a new job.

I have been there 6 months now and I'm so glad to have this opportunity. In the Visual Merchandising world it's amazing to work for the company I do now. I cant believe I've been there half a year already!

I went to the USA. A dream of mine that finally, actually came true.

And I'm so glad J came with me for the crazy ride.

LA, San Fran, Vegas and NY. I cant even look at the pictures now because it hurts. I want to go back so so so bad. The place is like an addiction. I think about it every day. I am hoping to go back next year. I sound so sad. I should probably worry about other things in life hahaha

Which brings me to:

Today J and I braved our other local shopping centre to hunt for bargains (after going to our nearest one yesterday and coming home empty handed). J bought $90 worth of Spongebob DVDs. Hahaha. Yes we still love him at the ages of 21+25... *ahem*. I also finally found 'My Neighbour Totoro' on DVD and I'm so excited to watch it tonight!

I have heard such great things about it. It looks like such an adorable movie.

I just bought this for J's sisters wedding in March. $199 down to $99 with the cardholder 25% off, plus $10 postage = $85.

Bargain! I have been eyeing it for a while. I got a small and Im petrified it wont fit, but their sizing chart says a size 10 is a small? Eek.

Its 11% elastane anyway so hopefully it'll be ok.

Back to work tomorrow. Im loving the fact its only for 3 days and then I have 3 days off again! Hope you're all making the most of these public holidays :)

IT'S THE MOST W O N D E R F U L TIME OF THE YEAR...

Hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday, stuffed them selves silly and received everything they wished for!

My outfit for the day was a Bluejuice dress,

as well as new skeleton earrings and my T&Co cuff that I got that morning :)

I spent the morning playing with my new Babyliss Pro conical curling wand, theyre tricky to use but I love it. My curls actually hold now! Yay! Especially good for the messy/wavy look I'm going for with my hair. Speaking of my hair, I'm thinking about going back to the hairdresser soon and getting it lightened all over. The boy is against it "Brunettes are better!" (ha) but I really want to try being lighter. Im addicted to the idea!

Food from the day! Chocolate cheesecake made by moi. The lunch table (stuffing cupcakes, prawns, ham, turkey, potato salad and coleslaw). And I whipped up a jug of Sangira that went straight to everyones heads, which was hilarious.

Dodgy Bon Bon toys! Hahaha. My uncle and I modelling our moustaches.

(I had also changed out of my dress because I was hot and sticky hahaha)

When Mums half of the family came over for dinner the kitchen was covered in pots and pans and containers. We had ham, turkey, pork, prawns, vegetable curry, pumpkin curry, chicken curry, lamb curry and BBQ stir fry!!! Ahhhhhhh *food coma*

Then more cheesecake, tiramisu and ice cream log.

I finally went and got my hair professionally balayaged/lightened.

I also got it trimmed so its more one blunt cut. I really like it and I almost want to go even lighter, I think it makes me look healthier! Haha.

Cant wait for Sunday to get here, I want 3 days to just chill out. This week at work has been insane, as we're currently trying to set up clearance. It's a mammoth operation.

Looking forward to eating and drinking and chilling with the fam!

You have all probably seen this on other blogs such as Bleach Black but I thought I would post my little DIY anyway...

I made me one of these:

THE DEATH ROLL

Take one silicone iPhone case (eBay - $3.00)

Some spikes (spikesandstuds.com, about $10 for 40 I think? Cheap as chips!)

Measure it all out, mark spots and pierce with something pointy (I used surgical scissors)

Then stabby stab stab your screws through and screw the spike on top!

Taaaa daaaahhhhhh.

My parents think its the most ridic thing ever, I told them it was 'all the rage on the blogs' to which they replied, very sarcastically 'Ooooohhhhhhhhhh', complete with eye roll.

Ha. Parents.

My bro wanted to know how on earth I would fit it in my pocket. har har. I dont put it in my pocket thankfully.

I love that it is so solid to hold and your fingers slip in between the spikes so you have a good grip. I also put some tape on the inside to cover the screw backs so that they don't scratch my iPhone.

I love DIY. I want to order some more spikes to do a clutch. I just wish somewhere in Aus sold them because they take about 10 days to get here from the States. Wah.

Yay for hump day I cannot wait for this week to be over.

Last night I went along to the work Christmas party with the VM team from the city store.

I had to go straight from work which drove me a bit crazy. I wanted to change my outfit and fix my hair and I needed to moisturise my legs... hahaha I just sucked it up and went with it.

I wore a Sportsgirl fitted black maxi that came to my knees, Cotton On leopard print blazer,

JC Be Wells and Michael Kors bag.

I met up with Sam on the train and we headed to The Argyle

Smnth and Krryn.

We have a joke about how hilarious names would be without vowels...ahem

I loved The Argyle, it was like a really fancy pub haha.

Drinks were exxxxxxxy though. Of course. I wish I got photos of them but it was a bit awkward. We had amazing strawberry cocktails and jugs of Pimms and passionfruit and mint... ah it was amazing. Needless to say I'm REALLY broke now though... sigh.

Today I treated myself to a couple of purchases. Totally justifiable because

1. I needed a new wallet and

2. I needed a sensible pair of black wedges that would go with everything - casual or dressy outfits.

I have heard bad things about Mimco's quality and customer service but I thought I'd give this wallet a go. It was 25% off, after all.

It has more card slots and money slots than I could use!

If anyone has any tips on how to keep it scuff/mark free please let me know.

Aaand these lovely sensible Tony Bianco 'Nasya' wedges.

So comfy and so practical.

I had the odd realisation this afternoon that they're the first pair of TB shoes I've ever bought.

WEIRD!

I cant wait to wear them out tomorrow night :)

QUEENSLAND P A R T 2

In the last 2 days of our trip I....

Bought a new Cozzie - $89 down to $30

And popped Jez's Dreamworld cherry! Yay!

We jumped on Crocodiles

Tickled Tigers

And saw the Tiger show!

Also went on all the rides... except the Giant Drop. I KNOW I KNOW. How could we go to Dreamworld and not go on it? I am not keen on relying on that thing to stop. I convinced myself we'd end up like pancakes haha.

We waited an hour for Tower of Terror 2. Having been on Tower of Terror 1, I think ToT2 is much superior. MOST AMAZING RIDE EVER. I will go back just to go on that ride.

You basically fly backwards at 160km/h (or something along those lines) up a pole 100m vertically. AWESOME RIGHT?!

It doesnt do it complete justice... the feeling of weightlessness when you get to the top and start to come back down is amazing.

QUEENSLAND P A R T 1

On Sunday J and I headed off to the Gold Coast for some good old Rest and Relaxation.

He had never been before and it was also our 18 month anniversary on the Monday so we thought it would be a lovely little get away :)

We stayed at Broadbeach, which is where I've always stayed when I went with my family.

I think if we ever go again we'll stay a bit further north, because we werent really near too many restaurants or bars. However Pacific Fair and the beach were only a 2 minute walk away!

We didnt spend much time at the beach because it was too windy. Why put up with being sand blasted when you can laze by the pool under palm trees?

I'm sad to say that on the first night this is all that was in our fridge...

We went and partied on Cavill Ave (new for me because I never did 'Schoolies')

It was ridiculously fun though. Another couple who we are friends with were staying at Surfers so we met up with them and did a bit of a club/pub/bar crawl. Excuse how drunk we all look, iPhone flashes ARE NOT flattering...

Heavennnnnn.

Monday night we headed out to celebrate our anniversary.

The high bun was my saviour throughout this holiday, although as you can see no amount of hairspray can hold down my dodgy bit. Grrrrr.

and $10-per-plate TAPAS. Ahhhh it was amazing.

Arancini balls, duck spring rolls, Szechwan calamari, prawn things (I cant remember as I dont like Prawns hahaha), spanish pastries

and chorizo skewers. We were in heaven.

The next day we went to Wet n Wild. It was J's first time. I took him on the Tornado first and he nearly died as he didnt know what to expect. Heehee.

Frozen Coke could not be more perfect after a hard day of water slide madness.

We could not stop watching this ride. The riders were strapped in, in a lying down position, and then hoisted all the way to the top of the white pole in the background, then they let themselves go and flew through the air attached by cables. It was unbelievable!

GIRL'S NIGHT IN

On Friday night a last minute decision was made for me to go to Girl's Night In with my Mum and her friends, as one of their friends couldn't make it. I was freaking out a bit at work all day trying to figure out what to wear. The theme was 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' with a touch of pink.

Got the JC's out for a spin :) (so comfy to dance in too! for a couple of hours anyway! haha)

It was such a fun night, honestly my Mum's friends party harder than some people I know! (Our table was scarily the worst behaved haha). The food was amazing, it was an amazing atmosphere and the girls who organised it did a great job.

Back to work tomorrow. Blahhhhhh. How does everyone get over the whole depressing 5 days on, 2 days off thing? I'm honestly struggling to deal with it. It makes me pretty upset sometimes that the world is the way it is. I know theres nothing I can do and I shouldnt think about it all too hard but it bothers me... :\ I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way? Haha I am known for thinking about things wayyyyyy too much though.

2,3,4. On Monday J and I went to Swansea, which is just south of Newcastle.

It was a nice place but kinda run down.

So glad the weekends here. Even though it was only a 4 day week it really dragged on.

Rip Steve jobs. Like Ashton kutcher said on twitter 'I've never been so busted up over the loss of someone I've never met'.

He did so much for technology in his short time. Having never ever owned a PC and always having a Mac I've grown up biased and hating Microsoft. I used to have arguments in high school with friends over which was better out of the 2. Not very mature but I just always thought Mac was the greatest. 'they don't get viruses, they're so much simpler to use!' I would say. 'And they're pretty!' Haha.

I never gave too much thought to the man who created the iPhone, the iPod and the iPad. But he was a genius. He changed everything about phones and the way that we communicate. We have him to thank for so much. I have him to thank for the fact that I'm able to sit here writing this on my iPhone. So thank you Steve. Thank you for living and doing what you did. And as Danny Clayton tweeted 'may his soul dance eternally in the afterlife with white headphones in his ears'.

Yesterday I went shopping in Sydney with my Mum.

We were on a bit of a mission to find some colourful sandals for me and a new fragrance for her.

We had lunch on level 5 of Westfield Pitt st Mall. I had heard it was an amazing food court but it was like being in another world! It all looked so yummy. We had dumplings and soup from Din Tai Fung. I had ever intention of taking a photo but honestly I just get too excited about eating and chow down before I remember! Hahaha.

And watched THE most amazing band. I may have blogged about them before as I've come across them playing in Pitt St Mall a couple of times. They're called 'Set Sail'. We grabbed their EP for $10.

This is a video I took of them yesterday. They also did a rad cover of 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and some originals. I hope they put out a proper album soon!

Got my bright sandals! Actually purchased something from Zara in amongst all the chaos.

I kept putting them down and then walking back and picking them up and putting them down... they're not leather so it put me off a bit but they were about $60 so worth it really... and the colours are awesome!

Finally bought these too... I have been eyeing them for months. Finally wanted to buy them last week from Sportsgirl at Chatswood but they were all gone (that'll teach me for being so indecisive!) I had a feeling the Pitt St mall store would still have some and they did! I actually prefer the lighter 'Honey' shade but I know they would get ridiculously dirty so I bought the 'Taupe' shade. $44.95 down from $139. Reaaaally cant complain!!!

This was my outfit... sadly I cant find my camera cord so I had to take a photo with my iPhone of the camera display... DODGY. Hahahahaaaa.

Usually videos sound awful when taken on mobile phones but it's like I used a proper video camera. I am in looooveeee!

Thirsty Merc and Other Things!

2. Bananas. I really dislike the real thing but give me it in bread/lolly/paddle pop form and I'll be your best friend :D

3. Blurry nails. Haha. I tried thoseSally Hansen strip thingys. I like them, but in my 'profession' nails never last long and these weren't really an exception. They still chipped after one day. And they left weird residue on my nails :(

4. The gorgeous Molly covered in a pile of her toys... Hahahaha. I love building little forts around her out of things. Usually its lounge cushions and blankets. She just sits there in amongst it and chills out haha.

5. Nommy bagels at the local Cafeeee

6. Thirsty Merc live! So in love! We got to meet them too, and they signed a poster for us. It was great, everyone lined up and met them and got photos and had a little chat.

They put on an amazing show and I could not be more happy we made a snap decision to go and see them. (Literally I made the call an hour before they were due to go on stage, and I live 45 mins from the venue they played at hahaha. So worth it!) When they played 'Build a Bridge' and 'All My Life' I lost it. Perfection!

Things have been hectic in my little world, Ive been helping at another store with major things, worked Sunday and Monday nights til 1am. Fun fun... It truly was amazing experience though! We worked with the International Visual Merchandiser for Armani which was pretty mind blowing. Now preparing for an event, which is majorly tiring.

Bring on the weekend though, the sleep deprivation is catching up with me!

My $10.50 Sportsgirl flats from eBay. They're such a great colour, I cant wait to wear them all through summer. I got some new boots! So excited. Theyre not exactly what I was after but theyre pretty damn close and for $40 who could complain?

J got a new car so now I'm obsessed with the idea of getting a new (second hand) one. I just doubt whether anyone would give me a loan only working part time and such. A mermaid, 'strippers' and a damn good time

I had a lovely friends 21st on Saturday night. The theme was 'under the sea'.

My outfit was supposed to be 'fish' inspired. hahahaha. This is what it looked like....

It was all made from a glue gun! The top half is all carefully stuck to an old bra, and the bottom half is glued to an old boob tube. I wore the bra over the top of the boob tube and VOILA it somehow looked like a dress? It all kinda worked out freakishly well. The back went down into a long sweeping tail which I attached up to my wrist so it wasnt dragging along too much.

Here is the gorgeous birthday girl as a hippy mermaid. Her outfit was a corset that we glued all kinds of sea themed crap to, it turned out SO well. Then we glued layers of green material to an old skirt of hers.

Another one of my friends went as 'seaweed'... Hahaha she basically just pinned some random bits of plant to her top. And no the glasses are not a part of her outfit!

Another pal dressed as 'mother of pearl' hahaha. I love it when people think of an outfit with a twist.

There was petition going throughout the night to say whether these boys should strip for her or not. Of course they had to! The same guys did it for her sisters 21st last year. Hahahaha. And yes it involved a g-string. Theyre scarily good at it.

Super quick post of a few random bits and pieces from the last few days.

This is the ring J got me for our 1 year. Its a narrow notes 'I love you' ring from Tiffany & Co.

Sorry about the crapola shots my camera sucks at close up :( but you get the idea... haha

We went to a great little woodfired pizza place for dinner on Sat night, it was in an area we wouldnt usually go and we were surprised by the amount of restaurants + things that had popped up there. I think we'll have to go back and try some of the other places.

We has deep fried risotto balls, a pizza each and a dessert each. The pizzas were so simple and exactly as a pizza should be! AND they had a 'no ham and pineapple' rule. My kind of place!!! Haha.

I bought an ear cuff from Sportsgirl a few weeks ago, I think its quite interesting to wear. Makes my ear hot though hahaha. The big triangle is another pair of SG earrings that I bought recently.

And I found time to bake some berry coconut muffins. I used to bake heaps but now I never have the time :((( Theyre super duper tasty and not too bad for you either. Stoked!

Last Saturday J and I celebrated our one year anniversary. We went to the only 'hatted' restaurant in our area, called Bells at Killcare, which has 2 hats. It was AMAZING. So cozy and the food was lovely. It got even better when the waitress came over and told us our bill had been taken care of by someone who wanted to remain 'annonymous'...!!!

We later found out that it was J's boss. She is such a champion! He bought her a case of beer but it doesnt really compare to such a kind gesture!

On mothers day, J and I cooked my Mum stuffed chicken breast with potato mash, vegies and lemon cream sauce. Mmm. When I say 'J and I' it means I steamed some vegies and he did the rest ahhaha. I fail in the kitchen when it comes to savoury foods!

On Friday night J and I went to see Maroon 5 (it was the 3rd time Ive seen them live. They are so. good). Sara Bareilles supported, it was the second time I've seen her and she was amazing. Such a beautiful voice. She sings effortlessly.

6. Michael Kors watch. I needed a lovely watch and I'm so happy with it. The watch face is mother of pearl. Mmm shiny things.

7. T&Co necklace from T&Co in NY. So happy I have a lovely dainty necklace to wear 24/7 that doesnt choke me when I sleep with it on. baha.

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are Made...

When we touched down in NY I could barely breathe. We'd had the worst flight of the whole trip, so much turbulence the plane had dropped about a metre and everyone had been flung up in their seats. I was also in the very place I've wanted to go for so, so long.

When we crossed one of the bridges and actually arrived on Manhattan, the tour manager put Empire State of Mind on. Throughout the whole trip she'd be playing songs on the coach that corresponded with each city - and I'd been waiting for this song.

All 24 of us were silent as we stared in awe at the buildings standing so tall and the taxis and people and apartment buildings - all exactly as I'd always imagined it to be. I got shivers when the song came on and tears in my eyes. I could not believe I was finally in New York City.

We stayed at the Beacon Hotel which was on the Upper West Side on 73rd and Broadway.

It was a good location, subway only metres away and an amazing fresh produce grocery store right across the road. We were all dying for some fresh fruit and vegies by this stage.

Bright and early the next morning we went on a full city tour, past the building John Lennon lived in and was also shot at, up alongside the Hudson river and into Harlem, then across and back down 5th Avenue past Tiffany's, Saks, FAO Schwartz, we then stopped at the Rockerfeller centre.

Next stop was Grand Central Terminal and then Ground Zero.

We tried to brave Century 21 but got overwhelmed by the pushiness and awful people shopping in there at the time. We lost one of the girls and decided to cut our losses and run, it was unbelievably stressful in there! Haha. On their shopping bags it says 'fashion worth fighting for'

SO TRUE.

The coach driver dropped us at the 10 floor Macy's after lunch - thats right - 10 floors!!!

I bought some super cheap MAC make up and a Michael Kors watch. Unfortunately the clothes werent very nice :( And the staff were rude rude rude. (I had yet to find out that this is the norm in NY unfortunately :((( )

That night we went to dinner at a lovely bar, then to Times Square to have a professional group photo taken. People were staring at us and one guy came over and wanted his photo with us!

"I love Aussies!!! Can you all point at me in the photo?" hahaha.

Then... Karaoke. Songs sang by our group included 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', 'I Come From the Land Down Under', 'California Girls' (accidentally, the man who was running it called us up and we thought someone had put our names in to do it, but turned out another group of girls were supposed to do it! OOPS.) and 'Khe San'. Hahaha.

The bar staff also get in on the action, jumping up and singing on the bar etc. At one stage they both sang Empire State of Mind in a duet style and the whole bar was singing along at the top of their lungs. The memory gives me chills. It was seriously amazing.

The next day we were hungover and made a very cold trip over to Liberty Island. Unfortunately everywhere in the USA that is a tourist attraction now has airport style security (think x ray machines etc etc) so it takes FOREVER to get somewhere. I think we were in line for about an hour before we made it through.

After that we went to Century 21 again and prepared to seriously throw some elbows. I got a Nine West jacket/anorak/parka thing for $90 down from like $180 so I was pretty happy. Its a bitch to rummage through everything in there and I think if I had more time and patience I would have tried a bit harder.

The next day some of the girls and I went on a 'Shopping' tour lead by some stylist. Who...... was not great. We were the first group to get the opportunity to do this tour through Contiki so we gave honest feedback. Luckily the tour manager came too so she experienced how bad it was.

I hope they find another stylist to do that tour because its a great idea it just needs someone different. VERY different.

That night was the last night of the tour :((( so we went out to dinner at this place where they have HUGE cocktails but SHITE food (half a dry, pink chicken and soggy chips on a plate?). The cocktails kinda made up for it but :) and then onto the Empire State Building... where we waited an hour and a half in line... blahhhhhhhhh. Luckily we were all pretty 'happy' from the cocktails but it was so tedious. Then it was onto Joshua Tree bar for drinking and dancing.

J and I spent another 3 nights in NYC. We stayed at the Chelsea Inn and Hotel Chelsea. I dont recommend the Chelsea Inn unless you enjoy lugging your suitcases up 4 flights of stairs :S.

The Hotel Chelsea was nice, kinda creepy because of its history and just the general 'air' of the place but I would stay there again.

The best thing about the Chelsea Inn was there was this boutique, I think called 'LF'. They have Jeffrey Campbells and YES I did nearly die when I saw some in real life. And of course I had to have some! The rest of their clothes were awesome too and I regret not going back and buying more! Damn.

We walked through Central Park, went to Tiffany's, and walked all the way down 5th Ave back to Macys one day.

The next day we went to Soho. Which was awesome and I wish I'd spent more time there.

I specifically hunted down Bloomingdales so I could get my Marc Jacobs handbag, and then went to find DASH the Kardashians boutique. I was too scared to go in ( ??? :| god knows why hahaha) and J talked me into it. The clothing was nice but not great quality. I wanted to check out Kim's jewellery but the place was so busy I couldnt get near it.

On our last day we ventured back up towards Tiffanys to find the YSL store because I wanted an arty ring. Of course it was Easter Sunday and it wasnt open!!! Boo. Instead we watched all the crazy people in their easter outfits crowd 5th Ave in preparation for the Easter parade. We didnt get to see it because we had to head to the airport :( :( :(

Shut Up and Put your Money Where Your Mouth Is...

Vegas...

What can I say? It is everything I imagined it would be really!

Lights, tackiness, fun, crazy people, extra large cocktails, money, shopping...

We stayed at Harrahs Casino, which is right in the middle of the strip.

J and I spent the majority of our spare time exploring a few of the casinos/hotels, shopping and just wandering.

On the first night we headed out with the group first to the big light show, where like a kilometre of roof is covered by this massive screen! Every hour theres a light show with images and music etc. It was epic. Then we went onto Palms casino, and the Playboy Club! Which was insaaaane. I didnt think anyone could just go in there hahaha (naive much?). There was an awesome outdoor deck area which had sweet views over a lot of the strip. The bunnies werent very friendly though :( boo.

Before all this though we had our 'surprise' where 2 people chosen by the tour manager got 'married' by Elvis in one of the chapels hahaha.

We went out to the Valet on the second night to get a cab to a restaurant (there was about 10 of us) and we jokingly said to the valet "Can we have a stretch hummer?" Just being idiots. The valet blew his whistle and round the corner came a bloody stretch hummer! Mentalist!!!!!

The place is crazy I tell you.

We went to 'V' Variety show which is great, so funny. And after that got in an even bigger stretch hummer/truck that was organised by the tour and headed to the Las Vegas sign.

We were supposed to go to Jet nightclub that night but half the tour group bailed because they werent really that into clubbing (weird for a Contiki group right? Haha. Our tour manager said we were strange, but 90% of us didnt want to be hung over all the time and wanted to actually make the most of the trip, which makes sense!) and without the 'male/female ratio' we couldnt get in. So J and I and a few others went off and did our own thing.

I dont know if I'd go back there, maybe for my hens night or something! Haha.

I'm so glad I've been there though and seen it all for myself.

Wont you save me San Francisco

San Francisco was next on our tour. We spent 2 full days there. Its a really lovely city, but so cold and windy! I was so excited to see the Golden Gate Bridge, we walked across it and went on a sunset cruise underneath it.

We also saw a baseball game while we were there (Giants VS Dodgers - serious rivalry!),

wondered around the various piers (and saw the smelly but very cute sea lions), caught the cable car and street trolleys, and watched the famous Bush Man scare passers by!

Its so easy to get around and really has a charm unlike LA or NYC. It reminded a few of us of Melbourne.

IM BACK! Los Angeles - Best of USA Contiki April 2011

Wow. What a whirlwind/blur/epic adventure the last 3 weeks have been!

On the 7th of April, J and I flew off to the USA for the Best of USA Contiki tour.

We arrived back home this morning after flying from NY > LA > SYD *exhausting*

I've decided to split to the posts into one for each city otherwise it would all be too much!

Day 0

Arrive in LA at 6:30am after 12 hour flight and no sleep. Discover that (obviously) we cant check in to our hotel room yet. One of the girls on our tour was on our flight so we all decided to go into Hollywood and check it out. Ended up doing Madame Tussauds, Chinese Theatre, Walk of Fame and shopping in H&M and Zara...

That night we met up with our tour group and manager. There was 24 of us (which is small for a Contiki apparently) mostly Aussies too!

Finally went to bed after about 30 hours without sleep! -_-

Day 1

Did walking tour of Downtown LA with an awesome guide called Mike The Poet. He told us a lot about LA and the architecture of the buildings and we saw one that was used in Blade Runner. He randomly broke out into raps and poems about LA, which were really, really good!

Then we hopped on a coach and went to Hollywood, through Beverly Hills, Sunset Blvd and Rodeo Drive and then to Santa Monica and Venice.

Beverly Hills is PRISTINE. It is honestly so beautiful. Exactly as I imagined it.

We're sad we didnt make it back up that way to have a wonder around.

That night we went on a pub crawl in Hollywood. Cant even remember what bars and clubs we went to but it was the first experience with 'free pour' of alcohol which was really freakin scary cuz we were all paranoid about drinking and falling on the floor hahaha.

Day 2

J and I decided to head to The Grove and Farmers Market. Its not a very large shopping complex but its sooo pretty. hahaha. Went into more H&M and Zara and F21 and Victorias Secret and NORDSTROM... ahhh I love Nordstrom, Im so stoked they ship here! I wish we had the variety they do over there... and dammit everything really is so cheap. Its such a pain in the butt!

Day 3

Disneyland!

Which... I am sad to say... I thought was a tad overrated?

:( wahh!

It would be amazing for little kids but so many of the rides were just not for us big kids!

Maybe I just prefer thrill rides or something?

LOVED Space Mountain though!

Hair Stylin'

A quick post before I head off to the hairdressers for the first time in 2 1/2 years. I know, but I HATE the hair dressers. Omg. I know my hairs dry, I know I shouldnt straighten it. But hell, its my hair and I'll do what I wish with it :D

Im really nervous and scared, I think I'll be excited when I get there but atm I'm trying not to think about being on a plane for 14 hours.

Clip In Hair Extensions

I bought my 4th set of clip in hair extensions yesterday.

These are definitely the longest I've ever gotten (even though every set I've bought has been 20 inches so I have no idea how that happened! Cheering but!)

I like them but I still wish they were a bit thicker. And for some reason I'm having more trouble blending them with my hair.

Anywho.

I mainly wear them because Im growing out a horrible, horrible, heavily layered hair style from 2006...

I think is may even be the actual photo I took in. Silly me.

At the moment the shortest layers nearly reach my shoulders, but they're soooooo thick! Its awful. Its like I've got a super long mullet or something? I dont know :S

Anyway, point is it looks pretty whack.

I'm going to the hair dressers before I go overseas and I'm scared to ask her to thin out the layers in that section cuz I dont want to make it worse and spend more time growing it out.

If anyone has any tips/advice I would love to hear it!
